Mrs Monica MacKinnon


Mrs. MacKinnon, PhD, Ms and Bs,  serves as the headteacher of Kent Chinese Mandarin School (KCMS), having co-founded the school in 2007 with the late Mrs Huei-Rong Wang. Among her varied professional experiences, Mrs MacKinnon has worked as a university lecturer both in China and UK, and a consultant in international organisations such as UN, EU and Asean. She has published a number of books she authored and translated. She taught Mandarin in King's School Canterbury, Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys and St. Christopher School. She is a CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) examiner. 

Mrs Janet Wang


Mrs. Wang joined Kent Chinese Mandarin School as a teacher in 2013. Apart from teaching, Mrs Wang also undertakes some managerial tasks such as teacher training and curriculum planning etc. She is a UK qualified teacher with many years teaching Mandarin at various levels. She teaches Mandarin in Cats College in Canterbury, Earlscliff College in Folkstone, Dover Grammar School for Boys, and Kent Adult Education Services. Mrs Wang is enthusiastic, dynamic, and dedicated to create and nurture a lifelong love of learning. As well as a classroom teacher, she is also a web-based Mandarin instructor, Edexcel A Level and GCSE examiner and CIE (Cambridge international examinations) examiner. Among her many qualifications, she has a Master degree in Chinese Literature from SOAS, University of London; a Bachelor degree in Applied Foreign Languages from Taiwan and DTLLS PGCE with QTLS in UK.

Mrs Yi Wang



Mrs. Wang has been at Kent Chinese Mandarin School since 2017, passionately cultivating a love for the Chinese language and culture. Currently, she teaches Mandarin at Kings School Canterbury, Kings School Canterbury International Colledge, and Junior King's Canterbury. With dual master's degrees in Computer Sciences and International Marketing Management from esteemed UK institutions, she also obtained a Diploma in Education and Training in 2021, underscoring her dedication to exceptional teaching. Additionally, her role as a Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) examiner demonstrates her adeptness in evaluating student progress.


Mrs Jin Dong


Mrs. Jin Dong joined Kent Chinese Mandarin School as a teacher in 2021. After many years of teaching language and working in Education in Shanghai, Dublin, Beijing and Hong Kong, Mrs. Dong relocated with her family to Canterbury in July 2021. Prior to her move, she had been teaching Mandarin in an IB International school in Hong Kong for six years. Mrs. Dong has a Post Graduate Certification in Education with Distinction from Nottingham University and Diploma of High Education in Media & Marketing from Liverpool John Morris University in association with Dublin Business School.

Mrs Chloe Chen

Mrs. Chen joined Kent Chinese Mandarin School in 2020, bringing a passionate commitment to teaching Chinese while consistently organising engaging activities to spark the imaginations of young children, earning high praise from parents. Before taking up her teaching role, she actively participated in our school children's education and eagerly volunteered in various parent-led school activities.

Her educational journey commenced at Minnan Normal University before she pursued a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Education Studies with Human Resource Management at the University of Northampton. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Science degree in Marketing Management from the University of Kent. Following her graduation, she successfully operated her own family business for 15 years.
